Read this before ordering
This is the tape only. You will also need a controller and a power supply. We run these on ESP32-based WLED, which works extremely well and integrates straight into Home Assistant.
WS2815 (12V) vs WS2812 (5V)
WS2815 at 12V — what we fit for anything over a metre or so. Far less voltage drop, so no colour shift along the run, and it has a backup data line — one dead pixel doesn't kill the rest of the strip.
WS2812 at 5V — cheaper, fine for short runs, but needs power injecting at both ends on anything long.
Notes from fitting these
Budget the power properly. 144 px/m at full white is a serious current draw — size the PSU for the peak, not the pretty pastel scene you tested with.
IP65 vs IP67 — IP65 for indoors and damp, IP67 where it will actually get wet. IP67's silicone sleeve makes soldering fiddlier.
Black PCB disappears against dark surfaces, white PCB against light ones. It matters more than you'd think when the tape is off.
Buy a metre more than you measured.
